Dave Irvine-Halliday is a Scottish-born optical engineer and a professor at University of Calgary in Canada, a family man with a charitable spirit and a passion for reaching out to others. On his first trip to Nepal in 1997 (as part of a working sabbatical), he had no idea that a new dream would come alive and his life would be changed forever. But as he reflects, “Serendipity, I think, plays such a role in our lives”. That was the point at which his idea of bringing light to the developing world was born.
